Part A / Part B
8 + 4 min
Group interaction 8 分鐘 + Individual response 4 分鐘
Level 5 differentiator

真正拉開分數唔係 vocab,係點樣駁人講嘅話

點解每年 Speaking 題目都會流出,但溫完仍然失手?

每年 DSE 考完第一日 Speaking,各大補習社 Facebook 就會瘋傳「今日題目」。你打開睇,心諗「呢條我都溫過喎」——但真正坐入去考場果陣,個腦成片空白,個 group 得你一個淨係識講 “I agree with you” 同 “That’s a good point”,最後拎返 Level 3。

  • Level 5 核心技術: building-on、productive disagreement、inviting silent members
  • 唔識個字 ≠ 死:用 paraphrase 講到嗰個 idea 都有分

HKEAA Paper 4 嘅結構:點解 Part A 比 Part B 重要?

Part A 完即入 Part B,考官會問你 individual response:「What you just said about X—can you give an example?」或者「If the group had disagreed with you, how would you respond?」你有大約 1 分鐘答每條問題。

陷阱:Part A 沉默 = 直接跌去 Level 2

考評局 marker report 多年指出:就算你內容講得再好,Part A 總發言時間 < 1 分鐘即入唔到 Level 4。佢哋無法評估一個講得太少嘅考生。每位同學最少要占 1.5-2 分鐘嘅 airtime。

5 個 marking categories(唔係淨計 vocab)

2023 年考過「Should secondary schools ban smartphones during lunch breaks?」——呢類題目 prompt 通常會畀 3-4 個 discussion angle(eg. student wellbeing / academic impact / social skills / parental supervision)。

Pole 2: 環保 × 氣候變化 (高頻)

Carbon emission、plastic waste、meat consumption、electric vehicle、fast fashion。2021 年「How can teenagers contribute to environmental protection?」就係典型。考生需要由個人層面(減少 food waste、二手衫)推到集體層面(school green club、policy advocacy)。

Pole 3: 校園生活 × 學業壓力

Exam stress、tutoring culture、extra-curricular activities、homework load、校服、午餐質素。2022 年考過「Is the current DSE system too focused on exam performance?」呢類自我 referential 題目。

Pole 4: 社會議題 × 公民責任

Ageing population、poverty、intergenerational gap、volunteer work、community service。題目傾向問「What role should young people play in X?」

Pole 5: 健康 × 心理質素

Mental health、obesity、sleep deprivation、social media comparison、eating disorder。2024 年「Should schools prioritise mental health education over academic subjects?」就係一個純粹 Pole 5 題目。

Pole 6: 道德 × 個人抉擇

Honesty、animal testing、privacy、surveillance、digital footprint、AI ethics。呢類題相對少出,但如果出,difficulty 會偏高——因為考生需要構思 moral reasoning 而唔係空喊口號。

2020-2025 Paper 4 topic pole

可能題目:「Should students be allowed to use AI tools for homework?」或者「Does AI do more harm than good to your learning?」考生要預備 concrete example——你用過 ChatGPT 做過乜、得益係乜、盲點喺邊。

方向 2: 青少年心理健康

2024 年已經出過,但 topic 仍然 hot,可能換角度——eg.「How can schools reduce exam-related anxiety?」

方向 3: 本地 sustainability

可能 prompt: 「What can Hong Kong do to promote green living?」呢條題考生容易答得 generic,需要本地 specific example(環保園、屋苑廚餘回收、港鐵車站回收機)。

Tip: 預測中題唔會一模一樣,儲 framework 重要過儲題目

準備 Speaking 唔係 memorise 20 個 sample answer,而係儲 20 個可以 reuse 嘅 framework——例如「個人層面 → 學校層面 → 社會層面」三層 scaffold,任何 topic 都 transferable。

Level 5 vs Level 4: 2 段真實 transcript 對照

呢段係 based on 2023 年題目「Should smartphones be banned during lunch at school?」嘅兩位考生(Level 4 vs Level 5*)開場 1 分鐘真實 transcript(經改寫壓縮)。睇完你就會明白 Interactive Strategy 嘅分野。

Level 4 開場(平均水平)

Student A: “OK, I will start first. I think smartphones should not be banned. Because students need to contact their parents. And also, sometimes we need to check information for homework. So I disagree with banning them.”

Student B: “I agree with Student A. Smartphones are useful. We can use them for learning apps. Banning them is not good.”

兩位考生都有講嘢,但冇人做 communication work。Student A 用 listing structure(point 1, point 2),Student B 只係重複。兩個人都冇 invite 第三、第四位同學。Marker 嘅角度:content 有,但 interaction 冇——跌入 Level 4 下段。

Level 5 開場(高分範例)

Student A: “Actually I’d like to start with a question for the group—how many of us here have phones with us right now? Yeah, almost everyone. So banning them during lunch isn’t just about policy, it’s about asking students to unlearn a deeply ingrained habit. I’m not convinced that’s realistic, but I’m curious what others think. Candidate C, you looked like you wanted to jump in?”

Student C: “Thanks—yes, I was going to push back on that actually. You say it’s unrealistic, but I’d argue that’s exactly why schools should intervene. If we can’t regulate our own phone use, maybe we need some external structure. That said, I do see your point about enforcement being tricky. Maybe the question is less about ‘ban or not’ and more about ‘how’?”

呢段 transcript 做咗幾件 Level 4 冇做嘅嘢:

  • 自開 question 邀請全組思考(“how many of us…”): 即刻 claim 個 discussion space
  • Acknowledge + push back: Student C 用 “I do see your point about… That said…” 做 productive disagreement
  • Reframe the question: “maybe the question is less about X and more about Y” 呢種 meta-level move 係 Level 5* 嘅 signature
  • 主動 invite(“Candidate C, you looked like you wanted to jump in?”): 顯示 attentive listening

Level 5 必用 200+ phrase bank

以下係按功能分類嘅 phrase bank,每個 function 背 5-8 個,Part A 8 分鐘內穩袋 Communication Strategies 最高分:

1. 開場 / Claim airtime (6 phrases)

  • “Shall we start by clarifying what we mean by X?”
  • “I’d like to open with a slightly different angle…”
  • “Before we dive in, can I check we’re all thinking about this the same way?”
  • “Let me throw out a question to the group…”
  • “Actually, I think the real issue here isn’t X—it’s Y.”
  • “I’d like to share a brief observation from my own experience…“

2. 同意 + 加深 / Building-on (10 phrases)

  • “Building on what Candidate B just said…”
  • “That’s a great point, and I’d take it one step further…”
  • “Yes, and if we apply that logic to X, then…”
  • “I completely agree—and what strikes me is that…”
  • “That resonates with me because…”
  • “To add to B’s point…”
  • “You’ve put it better than I could—I’d just add that…”
  • “What B said reminds me of…”
  • “If we follow B’s reasoning, it suggests that…”
  • “I want to double down on what B raised…“

3. Productive disagreement (8 phrases)

  • “I see where you’re coming from, but I’d push back on…”
  • “That’s an interesting view—can I offer a different perspective?”
  • “I don’t disagree entirely, but I’d qualify it by saying…”
  • “I take your point, however…”
  • “I hear you, but I’m not fully convinced because…”
  • “With all due respect, I think we might be overlooking…”
  • “Playing devil’s advocate for a moment…”
  • “Is it possible we’re framing this the wrong way?“

4. Invite silent member (6 phrases)

  • “Candidate D, I noticed you were nodding—do you want to add?”
  • “D, what’s your take on this?”
  • “We’ve heard from three of us—D, where do you land?”
  • “I’d love to hear a different voice here—D?”
  • “Sorry to put you on the spot, D—what do you think?”
  • “D, you’ve been listening carefully—any thoughts?“

5. Rephrase / clarify (6 phrases)

  • “So if I’ve understood correctly, you’re saying X—is that right?”
  • “Let me play that back: your argument is…”
  • “When you say X, do you mean Y?”
  • “Could you unpack that a bit?”
  • “I want to make sure I’m following—are you arguing that…?”
  • “So the crux of your point is…“

6. Summarise / Close (6 phrases)

  • “To bring this together, we’ve raised three points…”
  • “Where does that leave us as a group?”
  • “Can we land on a shared position?”
  • “Before time’s up, shall we summarise?”
  • “So we’ve heard arguments for and against—where’s the group leaning?”
  • “Final thought from everyone?”

Part B 個人回應:點答 examiner 嘅 follow-up

Part B 考官通常會問一條 prompt 起碼嘅 follow-up,目的係測試你 Part A 講嘅嘢有冇 substance。典型問法:

Pattern 1: 要求 example

「You said X—can you give a specific example?」
答法: 1 個 concrete example(best 係真事)+ 1 句 connect 返去原本個 idea。

Pattern 2: 要求處理 opposing view

「If someone strongly disagreed with you, what would you say?」
答法: Acknowledge 對方 point → 提出一個 qualified response → 承認你自己 position 嘅限制。

Pattern 3: 要求 projection

「How would this change in 10 years?」
答法: 1 個 trend + 1 個 uncertainty + 1 句 personal stance。

Tip: Part B 每條答 45-60 秒,唔好答得太長

考官有 fixed quota 問題,如果你答第一條用咗 2 分鐘,佢得返時間問你一條——等於你 lose 咗 showcase 機會。預訓練答 45 秒,尾段留 15 秒做 wrap-up。

考前 2 週 prep 計劃

Week 1: Framework drilling

  • Day 1-2: 將 6 topic pole 各揀 1 條真題,每條寫 3 layer 個人-學校-社會 scaffold。
  • Day 3-4: 錄音做 3 分鐘 monologue,每條用 2 個 Level 5 phrase(必須用到 building-on 或者 productive disagreement)。
  • Day 5-7: 揾 3 個同學做 mock group,每個輪流開場,錄影 review。

Week 2: Interactive focus

  • Day 8-10: 集中練 inviting silent member 同 rephrase,呢兩個最畀 Hongkonger 忽略。
  • Day 11-12: 做 1 次 full mock(10 分 prep + 8 分 Part A + 4 分 Part B),嚴格計時。
  • Day 13: Review mock video,標記每次你講嘢係咪有 claim-airtime / build-on / invite 三個 function 之一。
  • Day 14: 輕鬆溫最常用 20 個 phrase,早瞓。

「The most successful candidates demonstrated not simply command of vocabulary, but the ability to listen actively and respond substantively to peers—turning a test of English into a genuine discussion.」

— HKEAA Paper 4 Examiners' Report(概要語意改寫)

5 個真考生最易犯嘅致命錯

錯 1: 背晒 sample answer 照背

考官識聽 canned response,一聽就扣 Ideas 同 Communication 雙分。記 framework 不記 script。

錯 2: 搶住第一個講、之後冇 airtime

開場搶得太急後,冇人 invite 你。穩陣開場:第 2 或第 3 位發言,但每次別人停咗就插進 build-on。

錯 3: 用 big vocab 但錯 collocation

「This problem is ubiquitous」——啱,但「We should ubiquitously solve it」——錯,呢個字做形容詞唔做副詞用。寧用 B2 準字唔用 C1 錯字。

錯 4: Part B 答得太 generic

考官問「give an example」你答「for example many students…」——zero concrete detail = Level 3。一定要有 named event、place、or person。

錯 5: 沉默超過 15 秒

組入面有人講完冇人接,10 秒之後就一定要你插進 “I’d like to add a different angle…”。

常見問題 FAQ

Speaking 完全冇講英文會扣幾多分?

Part A 總發言 < 1 分鐘會入 Level 1 或者直接 unclassified。考官需要最少 45-60 秒 sample 先可以 assess。就算你完全唔識個 topic,用最簡單句式參與 interaction("I'm not sure I understand X—could you explain?" / "I want to agree with A")都 far far 好過沉默。

例如佢 dominate 成個 discussion 之後,你可以話「Candidate A, you've raised three really strong points—I want to slow down for a moment and ask the group whether we all agree with the second one.」呢句咁樣「refocus the group」係 Level 5* 嘅 signature move,一句就追返唔少分。

如果 10 分鐘 prep 時諗唔到 idea,考場點自救?

Default fallback framework: 3-level scaffold (個人 / 學校 / 社會)。

但經濟議題會以「生活層面」包裝:例如「Should young people worry about saving?」或者「Is buying a flat still realistic for your generation?」呢類 hybrid 題有可能。

同組有個同學好安靜,我應唔應該 invite 佢?

絕對應該——而且呢個動作會直接加你自己嘅 Communication Strategies 分。Invite 一次夠晒,語氣要 warm 唔好壓逼:「D, you've been thinking quietly—what's your view?」如果佢答得短,你可以接:「Interesting—that lines up with what A said earlier, but takes it in a new direction.」呢個 linking back 動作係 Level 5 interactive behaviour。

Speaking 分數嚟自 daily habit,唔係考前兩週

Paper 4 最難 fake——你一開口考官就知道你平時有冇講英文。由今日起每日 10 分鐘做 self-recording monologue,accumulate 到考場即時流暢。單詞狗 VocabShiba 嘅 6000+ DSE 高頻詞 + 真人發音庫,可以做你每日 speaking drill 嘅 input source。

結語

Paper 4 嘅分水嶺唔係你識幾多字,而係你點同人講嘢。Level 5 考生識 claim airtime、識 build on、識 invite silent member、識 productive disagreement——呢幾個 move 唔係天賦,係可以 drill 嘅 skill。

如果你 vocab 底仲薄,可以先睇 DSE 英文必背詞彙 4 層攻略 打底,再用 艾賓浩斯 30 日計劃 建立日常習慣。寫作方面可以延伸去 DSE English Paper 2 高分字手冊——呢啲寫作字庫好多都可以直接 reuse 到 Speaking Part B 嘅 individual response。
